Some tips on what to do to avoid spending a lot of money on auto repair

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Car owners know that maintenance and repairs of their cars can be very expensive. If it is still new you wouldn’t have problems on spending a lot on maintenance and repairs.  But as it ages it will need more care.So let’s talk about the steps we should take to avoid a lot of expenses when we go to an auto shop.

In my San Diego auto repair shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.  So what can someone do?  The best thing to do is keep your car maintained.Don’t wait for a problem to come up before you take action.Maintain it in its best condition.

One of the best ways to keep your car in shape is to have regular tune ups. This will prevent any problems from coming up.  It also keeps your engine running smoothly.Regular visits for tune-ups of your car will save you a lot of money from repairs in the long run. Not properly tuning up your car can lead to many problems like not passing smog.  I have seen older cars in my San Diego smog check shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test. This can cause a lot of other problems.

Another thing that gets neglected when it comes to our cars are the brakes. The brakes are the part of the car that can surprise a lot of people.  It surprises them when they see how high the bill is to repair.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brake shop when they see how expensive it can be.They could have avoided thoses expenses if they had just taken good care of their brakes.

Taking care of your car to so as not to get ripped is the main point here.Having less problems if a car is regularly maintained is wrong for shops to say.

Check Your Replacement Filter Cartridge In Your Water Filter Whole House

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Most people spend considerable effort in searching for the best water filtration system that they can afford. Ironically, many people then skimp on the most important part of a water filtration system which is the replacement filter cartridge. The performance of the system is dependent on the replacement of the cartridge and the failure to do so can so can be a health hazard to their family.

We all know its imperative to change the replacement filter cartridge in regular intervals depending on the specifications provided by the manufacturer. These days water pollution has reached unprecedented levels. The amount of chlorine and pesticides in unfiltered water renders it useless for drinking and cooking purposes. Moreover, these chemical deposits also cause the filter cartridges in your water filtration system to become redundant after some time. Hence,  a filter replacement cartridge need to be replaced regularly to get the best out of your filtration system.

Many consider water filtration to be a refined luxury, causing them to overlook it’s benefits. This can be dangerous with the amount and types of contaminants present in water these days. We all need to filter our drinking water to prevent contraction of serious diseases spread through it. This makes water filter cartridges more important than ever.

Though it may sound like a marathon chore, installing water filter replacement cartridges is not that tough. If your filter has many cartridges, its not important to replace them every second day. The replacement filter generally need to be replaced twice or thrice a year depending on the volume of filtration required.

Some companies go an extra step and send you a replacement cartridge when it is needed. Most times these cartridges can be obtained from the dealer or maker of the cartridge often found at a retail store that showcases water filters, often found online.

Whether they are under the, filter whole house, counter water filters, faucet filters or counter top water filters, all filters use removable water filter replacement cartridges. This is the best way to filter out the pathogens, debris and other impurities from the water. Apart from the drinking water filtration systems, aquarium water filters are also based on a cartridge system.

Different water filter replacement cartridges purify or filter water in different ways. Most of them use different types of biodegradable substances. Many of them have a special kind of charcoal which is known as granulated activated charcoal (GAC) which filters out bacteria and other pathogens. Its advisable to stay away from water filter replacement cartridges which have plain charcoal since these kinds of filters are not very good in keeping the bacteria away. The most well known mineral salt filtration media is known as Chlorgon. This is generally a combination of GAC with an alloy mixture of copper or zinc along with some mineral salts, coal and coconut shells.

Finally having the right kind of water filter replacement filter cartridge will make all the difference in the efficiency of your filter. Hence choose them with care!

Area Rugs Add Class and Character to Your Home

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Beautiful area rugs add focus and comfort to any room Although choosing the correct rug can be overwhelming because of the vast variety of rugs available. There are a few easy ways to make the whole area rugs shopping process simple and fun.

At first you should consider your current furniture and decorations and find a style that you like and will mesh together with them. There are many styles of area rugs, but sometimes it is hard to find one that goes with both your antique coffee table from your grandma and the modern furniture that you love. One style of rug that I believe is often overlooked these days is the Gabbeh.

Gabbehs are made in I ran and are knotted, tribal rugs. I like these because they make a wonderful cross over from traditional oriental area rugs and fit in well with modern furniture.

Some people have the most difficulty matching their rugs to their modern furniture. I suggest that in any room you first get the rug first if possible and then build the room from there. Knowing the difficulties of judging the colors of your home while in the store is one thing I learned after working for some years selling high quality Persian rugs. Therefore it is always a good idea to work with a dealer that you trust and will allow you to take the rugs you are considering home for a trail period. The reason that the colors are so difficult judge is because knotted rugs made of wool or silk change color drastically depending on the intensity and angles of light. Also one trick is to turn the rug around in the space, because the direction the fibers lay can make a big difference in the color and might help make it match the room better. At our store we would take the credit card number as security, so if our clients decided they liked the rug they could just call us and we would complete the transaction over the phone.

It can be really fun finding the best area rug if you enjoy shopping and finding the perfect fit to match your modern coffee table and coffee table Just remember to try it out at home if possible before making a major investment, because rugs are like beautiful artwork for your floor and you want to make sure it’s the one you want to live with for years to come.

Retro Coffee Tables – Tips From the Past

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

By the 21st Century, no one seems to know what’s “in” these days. And frankly, not many are interested in being in the “in-crowd.” It’s all about self-expression and individuality now. It’s not like the 80’s where everyone had those neon spandex, or the 60s when poodle skirts were the height of fashion. Now fashion, and the very soul of modernity, lies within the buyer and creator. And it shows in the household. People are more inspired by the past decades then the present, which is why you find that old shag rug in the dining room from the 70s, and that wicked eileen gray table in the living room.  Instead of following a magazine on home decoration to define their homes, people are creating their own ideas of fashion based on their experiences.

Naturally, no one has forsaken the love for modern furniture completely – just look at sales numbers! People still want the biggest, best, and most reliable items out there. Today’s furniture usually has the latest in reclining technology; hidden massage beads in armchairs, and retractable legs in kitchen tables, for example. However, just because the furniture of today has the technology of tomorrow, does not mean it can’t have the look of yesterday. Many furniture designers have taken to the growing obsession of the past, modeling their prized furniture after the many famous decades. And it sells!

Today, definitions are skewed, in a good way. Labels are being torn down with walls, leading people into the formerly unknown territory of intuition and expression. There is a freedom these days that people never had before with fashion. The idea of a modern sofa these days could mea a sofa manufactured today, but built like the design of a couch in the 40s. It is this freedom that is sweeping the nation, changing households, and keeping no two living rooms alike.

Although, people go to more than one place in search of their dream #retro coffee table. A lot of people, especially in this current economy, look to the big city streets instead of the big city stores. People discard their old furniture all the time, whether because it’s too heavy to move or too old to sell as appealing. But you know what they say about one man’s trash being another man’s treasure. Waiting for a new owner to find them and put new meaning into them, pieces of furniture are just around the corner, ripe for the picking.

So go out there, to the streets, to the retail stores, and find yourself. Not just in the couches, but in the dining room tables, the coffee tables, and the lamps of decades past.

Things that are of importance when buying a house

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

We would be tackling about one of our biggest investment in this article. Our house would be that investment. That would be the biggest investment made for most people. And being the biggest investment that most of us would make, there are some things about it that is important to be checked.

If you are looking to buy most people look to see if it looks good to them. They’re looking for a house that is beautiful.  But from my experience running my roofing poway company I know there is something big that can be overlooked.  That thing is the roof.

Most of the people often overlook it because they can’t go up the roof and see it for themselves.  But it is so important for several reasons. The first reason is it can be costly if it is already damaged and old and already needs to be replaced. If you want to purchase a house you don’t want that extra expense spent on repair or replacement.  I have seen many homeowners get surprised by this in my Oceanside roofing company.  Don’t be one of them.

Next reason on why inspecting the roof is important is because of the damages it can cause. If you already have a house that you are going to buy, it might be damaged by a leaking roof. You may not check that but it can cause a lot of problems if damaged.Things like water leaking into your houses which be dangerous if accidentally stepped on specially on very smooth floors.  Also it can form mold. The bad thing is that you can’t tell if a roof is leaking unless you check it thoroughly.  So when buying a home make sure you hire a good Encinitas roofing company to inspect it.

So when you are in the hunt for houses you must cover these points.  Don’t just look at a house because it looks nice. Or don’t just buy a house due to its nice yard.Make sure to check all important things which can cost you money. Because you don’t want extra expenses which will hurt your pockets when buying a house.
