Discount Scented Candles – Affordable Pleasure

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

It’s hard to find many gifts that are suitable for any occasion like candles are. In addition, while candles have been around for thousands of years, never have they come in so many shapes, colors, scents and sizes as today. And there was not a time that such wonderful candles were as cheap as this. In fact, discount scented candles are probably one of the greatest bargains in gifts and home decoration.

What makes scented candles so special? It could be that we are attracted by the light of a candle and the allure of sweet fragrances and enticing blends of spices and florals. What’s more romantic than a candlelit room that also tantalizes the sense of smell? Did you know you can actually use scented candles to create special moods and atmospheres?

Just try to imagine what it looks like to walk into a room that has the scet of an orange grove. Or one that smells like strawberry, grape or apple. Then seeing the colors we associate with these fruits reflected in strategically placed candles. Imagine rounded two-toned pillars artfully colored in shades of tangerine, peach, blueberries or lemon.

In case you are not so familiar with the great world of candles, I’m going to give you a brief intro: candles usually come as votive candles, container or pillar candles. Big candles that have 3 inches in diameter are called columns, also known as pillars. Some of them are square, some are around, and others are oval. Some are so large that they have more than one wick.

Small cylindrical candles that are a couple of inches tall and have an inch and a half in diameter are called votive candles. Usually, they are found in intricate and simple holders. The well-known container candles really use glass and wax, ceramic and metal containers that will delight you with their interesting shapes.

At the end of the day, the candles are a fantastic thing that brings light and joy in our life. In comparison to other luxuries we have, cheap scented candles are quite affordable and available to all.

Transformers Figures: Engineering and Marketing Dynamos

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Transformers figures are wildly popular toys due to their excellent back stories, intricate history, and utter coolness factor. While today’s toys are impressive with their intricate transformations and gadgetry, the clunkier and larger toys of the eighties are very desirable, partially due to their storied past.

In the 1970’s, Takara, a Japanese toy company manufactured the popular Microman and Diaclone toy lines, which featured toys that transformed into robots, electronics devices, and vehicles. Hasbro was already licensing Takara’s technology for the G.I. Joe toy line and continued the partnership to manufacture the Transformers figures toy line, while simultaneously buying the Diaclone toy line outright.

A backstory was commissioned for the toy line and a plethora new characters were added, while many of the original Diaclone figures were retooled to blend into this new story line. That’s the straightforward part of their history. Then things get confusing.

Shortly thereafter, the Marvel comic was released in the United States. It would later be released in Japan and the UK, spawning new toy variations and multiple names for characters in the process. In 1984 the TV series was produced, but the writers veered from the original path that was set.

In 1986, the Transformers animated movie was released, two more seasons of the animated series were developed, and the UK and Japanese story lines were still being produced. In the early 90’s, the second generation series was launched (G2), followed by Beast Wars, followed by a new series of comics and toys created by Dreamwave in the early 2000’s. This all led to wild discrepancies in plots, backgrounds, characters, and many other aspects associated with the backstory and toy line.

At the same time, Hasbro was releasing more and more Transformers figures and sets, including Constructicons, Sparkobots, Throttlebots, Protectobots, Headmasters, Powermasters, Dinobots, Triggerbots, Trainbots, and many more. Many of these lines were truly engineering marvels. What, don’t tell me that you thought there was only one toy line?!

Adding to this confusion are the new Transformers releases, inspired by the PG-13 Michael Bay feature film. Some of these new toys even feature tie-ins with the popular Star Wars franchise. Although these transforming toys don’t carry the same geek appeal as Star Wars vintage action figures or the original Transformers figures, they are very popular with younger fans of both the Transformers and Star Wars series.

The end result is that Transformer action figures are more than just a disntant memory for many collectors; they are also a perfect example of creativity, cooperation, and design ingenuity not often seen in the current mass market toy releases. Thanks to their past, vintage Transformers figures should remain collectible and valuable for many years to come.

Why Should You Use Beeswax Candles?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

The beeswax candles are currently at the very top in the candles world. They are also the most expensive candles for very good reason. And it is great to know that you will hardly find a candle that is as clean as beeswax candle.

The main competitors to quality beeswax candles on the market today are gel candles, paraffin candles and soy wax candles. The competition is not as expensive, but then again, it has a lower quality too.

We are making beeswax candles from the wax commercial bee farmers are gathering from their bee hives. This beeswax is processed and purified to prepare it for the process of beeswax candle making. The purification process includes heating the wax in hot water.

Beeswax candles come in many different shapes and forms and they also come in scented and unscented varieties. One of the reasons why beeswax candles are considered top-of-the-line is their burning characteristics. Candles like these are emitting a heavy yellow color as well as burining with a warmer flame which makes them different from other candle types.

There is only a small amount of wax dripping from a beeswax candles.

A lot of different religious services are using these candles just for the characteristics they have. Some religious institutions like the Catholic Church make heavy use of candles during their services. Those candles would be a big problem if they were dripping their wax everywhere.

They are using beeswax candles because they do not drip wax, and this is how the problem is solved. You will not have to tolerate a lot of smoke from these candles, simply because they do not produce it. In other words, they are very clean burning candles. This characteristic makes them desirable candles to burn with children in the home and also generally to protect your family’s respiratory systems.

These candles do not produce the petroleum smell and that you often get with paraffin candles and they do not produce the soot that can leave dark spots against your walls or on your ceiling.

Even though the beeswax candles are more expensive due to the labor involved during the farming process, their benefits make them worth the additional expense.

Save those Pictures

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Digital cameras make it easy to record your kids growing up, memorable events, etc., but you cvan find it all gone if a virus hits your computer. All the images of your children and family, happy holidays, precious moments, lost forever.

Most people who do backup their photos do it to CD’s or DVD’s.  But this is a feel good measure that does little good.  CD’s and DVD’s can start showing errors within three years even when stored in the best of conditions.Anything less than ideal will accellerate the deterioration.

And sharing your family photos between your computer, your mates, your kids, is just burdensome.  Most end up emailing just to get files around the same household or giving away personal information to one of the online freebie services.  But there is a much better way that is both inexpensive and easy to use, Internet Attached Storage.

Internet Attached Storage (like OPENRSM CloudBackup) is the combination of Online Backup, local network disk, and file sharing all in one.You add the benefit of backups of your other essential data (documents, files, email) and you don’t have to give away your private information to do so.

Here’s how it works.  You create an with an Internet Attached Storage provider. You then setup each computer with the free client software and select the network drive option.  Every computer will then automatically back up when you’ve configured and every computer will also have it’s own private backup at the Internet Attached Storage provider show up as a disk on the local system.  Here comes the best part of all.You can share a specific folder. When you do this the folder just “shows up” on the network drive on every computer using your account.

No more emailing photos, no more using services that make you give up your privacy.  And all the computers have backup for your other important files (like banking, documents, email) as well as having all those photos available from every computer. This saves loads of space and if bad things happen (like accidental deletion, hard disk failure, etc.) a previous version is in your Internet Attached Storage area.Even if you don’t find a overcropped or damaged picture right away you can copy the original back.

The important things you need to remember are.Using CDs isn’t smart if you value your family photos. They’re easilly scratched. Also, studies have shown that some recordable CDs deteriorate in a few years. Most online photo sharing sites are free but there is a cost in privacy and control of your precious photos.Internet Attached Storage keeps a backup of your images in the security of a remote place away from danger.  Keeping photos organized makes everything easier because Internet Attached Storage mirrors the structure of your own disk. Ensure you automatically backup new photos, you don’t want to lose pictures because you forgot that one time.Make it automatic thus removing the risk of having to remember to do it.

Advanced synchronization, automation, or network drive and folder sharing features are only provided by the best Internet Attached Storage providers. We’ve taken a look at what’s available and think the best you can use is OPENRSM CloudBackup.  It has the automation, ease of use, advanced file sharing features, and low cost you need to make sure that the pictures of your family don’t disappear from your computer.

Selecting Landscaping Plants or Trees For Your Garden Design

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Any garden can be spruced, regardless of its terrain, shape or size by adding some landscaping plants or trees. Planting shrubs and flowers along a garden path or around a tree won’t necessarily score you huge landscaping points. There are right and wrong plants for your garden, and you will have to learn the difference.

The choice of landscaping plants or trees for your garden is mostly determined by the overall look you want to achieve, or the purpose you want your garden to serve. Most homeowners design their yards with aesthetics in mind, while others put a higher priority on privacy. Whatever your final decision is, it is beneficial to your property value to obtain other landscaping and gardening ideas.

For the latter, one of the best plant choices you can make is a decorative vine like the ivy. All you have to do is provide it with something to crawl up on and within a few weeks, you will have your own natural wall that will not only screen your house from curious eyes, but add to the aesthetic beauty of your property as well.

Before you run to the local plant shop though, you have to know that cultivating an ivy vine may require a bit of time and effort from you. In the beginning, a young ivy plant is naturally small and it may look very tame. Very quickly the vine will be crawling in all directions if untrained, and grow several feet tall. If you do not constantly attend to and prune an ivy vine, it will quite often attach itself to places you don’t intend for it to be.

For the purposes of beautifying your home and garden, the universal choice is flowers for landscaping plants. Flowers are available in all colors, designs and sizes, but the most important factor to consider in your choice is the kind of climate or season where they will thrive. Many flowers flourish in mild weather, but there are other varieties that prefer the colder, shadier places of the garden.

The recommended landscaping plants for places that have four definite seasons, are the hardy plant and flower varieties. These will be able to withstand the harsher weather patterns. These landscaping plants do not require too much special treatment either.

Landscaping does not have to be made into a hard task if you have the necessary knowledge and tools to do the job. If you need any help, you can always search for answers or ideas in gardening websites and magazines. Inquire at your local garden supply store or nursery for ideas and tips for the types of landscaping plants or trees to use.
